Having joined NewMark Merrill nearly 15 years ago, Greg Giacopuzzi has built his career at NewMark Merrill Companies. Starting as a Leasing Associate for portfolio assets and growing through multiple positions to his current role of Vice President of Leasing and Development, Greg has consistently put ambitious and creative strategies forward and pushed the envelope on leasing and acquisition/development targets.
In his current role, Greg is responsible for acquisitions of properties for ground up development and redevelopment for NewMark Merrill’s corporate office. In addition, he leads a team of professionals who handle transactions on a 40-center portfolio from the initial letter of intent negotiations all the way through to the tenant and shopping center grand openings. He also oversees marketing of the NewMark Merrill Southern California portfolio and interfaces with brokers and tenant real estate executives to lease space to regional and national companies. Greg has successfully closed over 900 career lease and acquisition transactions, including negotiations with more than 100 national companies such as Sprouts, ALDI, Grocery Outlet, ULTA, Starbucks, McDonald’s, Mister Carwash, Quick Quack, Dutch Bros, Five Below, and many more. He’s emerged as an industry leader and is an active member of ICSC and ACRE, frequently organizing networking gatherings for colleagues and industry counterparts.
Prior to joining the NewMark Merrill team, Greg lived in San Diego and attended Point Loma Nazarene University. He spends his time away from the office with his wife, Rory, and their two small children, participating in almost any outdoor activity, including snowboarding, surfing and golfing.
When asked what drives him every day — he admitted, “Hands down it’s the amazing team I work with. When you surround yourself with such incredibly smart, committed and hard-working people, you can’t help but to be motivated to contribute and do your part. The sky is quite literally the limit.”
