Calabasas, CA. (June 17, 2025) – NewMark Merrill Companies, Inc., a Calabasas, California-based retail shopping center owner and development company, is pleased to announce it has hired 24-year commercial real estate veteran Paul Sheppard as Vice President of Acquisitions and Development for the firm’s Mountain States Division. Mr. Sheppard will be tasked with sourcing and overseeing acquisitions of properties and identifying and managing new development projects in the Mountain States region. He will be based in NewMark Merrill Mountain States’ Westminster, Colorado office. NewMark Merrill Mountain States currently owns and operates thirteen retail centers encompassing 1.7 million square feet in Colorado.
Paul joins NewMark Merrill with an impressive track record in development, lease negotiation, asset management, merchandising, tenant relations, construction management and budgeting. Most recently he served as President for SheppCo Holdings where he led investment in commercial real estate properties, ensuring steady growth, value appreciation, and consistent returns for the firm’s stakeholders. Previously, he served as Vice President of Leasing for ShopCore Properties where he was responsible for a 3.5-million-square-foot retail portfolio in Colorado, Arizona, Texas and Illinois. He has also held senior level roles with Regency Centers, DDR Corporation, and Brixmor Property Group.

Mr. Sheppard is a graduate from the University of California, Los Angeles, is an active member of ICSC where he severed as NextGen chair for the Rocky Mountain Region from 2011 to 2013, and he donates his spare time to various youth sports organizations throughout Colorado.
